What is a microequine® ?

What is a microequine®®? It’s a super small equine!

Microequines® are the smallest equids in the world.
They can’t be taller than 71 cm ( 27,95 inch ) at the withers.

Much smaller than falabellas ( size between 70 – 80 cm ( 27.55-31.49 inch ) ) or miniature horses ( size between 80 cm – 95 cm ( 31.49-37.4 inch ) ). Much smaller than the majority of the Shetland ponies of yesteryear, very stocky, only used to be ridden or harnessed.

These must meet the three unavoidable criteria to be part of it:

  1. The most important and unavoidable is that this small equine cannot exceed the height of 71 cm (27,95 inch) at the withers, measured by an official approved studbook at the minimum age of 2,5 years, and must also come from two parents both measuring 71 cm (27,95 inch) or less. This makes it by far the smallest equine in the world.
  1. Correct limbs and legs and equal teeth between the upper and lower jaw (never prognathic), and an elegant model and fine limbs are a must.
  1. A small, fine and if possible camel head and a proud and elegant head carriage are also required.

This will never be considered as microequine:

A heavy and disproportionate head (resembling a rhinoceros), no expression in the eyes, a prognate dentition, often linked to dwarfism. A long body in the back, bad legs, very heavy bones. No harmony.

The microequines, records of size, unique in the world, smaller than a big dog!

Their exceptional size (like a big plush) makes adults and children fall in love.
