The origin of the microequine
Pony, horse or falabella microequine – mainly come from miniature shetland ponies from the Shetland Islands, these were already selected by size in the 1900’s and used in the coal mines to pull the wagons. The size was very important because of the width and height of the galleries. Later, by crossbreeding probably made with Welsch or Arabian horses, a lot of elegance and diversity of coats was gained (like palomino, isabelle, wild coats, which did not exist in the 1950s and which appeared at the end of the century).
To obtain this label so rare and so prized, it is necessary that all the required characteristics (size, elegance etc.) are in conformity with the standard.
